T00 maajoukke Janis Gripenbergas Memorial turnauksessa 24-26.10.2018

T00 maajoukkue osallistuu viikonlopun aikana Janis Grinbergas Memorial handball turnaukseen Liettuan Vilnassa. Joukkueen matka alkoi tänään aamulla Helsinki-Vantaan lentokentällä, ja iltapäivällä vuorossa oli ensimmäinen ottelu reiluun vuoteen. Valitettavasti aamulla selvisi että kokonpanosta tippuu yksi pelaaja pois sairauden takia, matkalle lähdettiin nyt yhden viivapelaajan kanssa.

Tänään vastustajamme oli Ukrainan maajoukkue, Ukraina oli tuttu vuoden 2017 EHF championshipista, silloin Suomi voitti ottelun 26-22.

Päävalmentaja Thomas Hivertin kommentit ottelusta:

“Our first game which started well, leading 11-3 after 14 minutes. Aggressive in defense and well helped by a solid goalkeeper. On the other side we attacked the middle part of their 6-0, to end on the outside, with efficient shooting from our wings. The second part of the first half was a bit more difficult, we lost too many 1vs1 situation and a last second goal by Ukraine which brought us to half time with 3 goals lead 16-13.
The second half started well and after 42 minutes we were leading 20-16. The difficulties started when Ukraine caught up in the 49th minute with the score 22-22. Once again, a combination of technical mistakes, approximate shooting, lost on 1vs1 situations in defense and few easy goals for the opponent put us on a difficult position for the last 10 minutes. Our lack of experience, lack of trainings together and same players missing in the team, made us lose the control of a game that was in our hand. Disappointed and annoyed about the result but motivated and focused to not let this happen again.
